It’s normal to have questions.
-
Yes, to the best of my ability. I offer sessions primarily in midday and evening hours to accommodate working hours and other commitments. Sessions are available between 11am-8pm EST (last session starting at 7pm EST) Tuesday-Thursday. I do not offer weekend sessions. Please note that I do not currently have any evening sessions available.
-
All services listed are offered online via Telehealth (video and/or phone sessions) only. I do not offer in-person sessions at this time.
-
Except for the first session, Individual and Couples Therapy sessions are 45-50 minutes long. General Consultation, Group Therapy, and the first therapy session are 60 minutes.
-
General Consultation sessions are $400, Individual and Couples Therapy sessions are $300, and Group Therapy sessions are $100-150. Please note that the first time we meet, regardless of the service you are seeking, I conduct an initial evaluation and this is a General Consultation session.
If you have out-of-network insurance coverage you would like to utilize, I am happy to provide superbills and any other documentation to support that effort.
I offer limited sliding scale options based on financial need. Please contact me to inquire about these options.
-
Please note that I do not take insurance and any coverage will need to be provided as “out of network.” To find out IF you have out of network benefits and what portion of my fee they may cover, please call your insurance company directly by calling the customer service phone number on the back of your insurance card (there is often a separate phone number for mental health or “behavioral health” services information).
When speaking with your insurance company, you will want to ask them the following questions:
What are my “out-of-network” outpatient mental health insurance benefits?
What is my deductible and how much of it have I met?
Is it possible to meet with a provider that I choose and submit receipts for reimbursement?
What is the process for seeking reimbursement?
Are there any limitations on how many services a year that will be covered?
What is the coverage amount per therapy session (CPT codes: 90853 (group psychotherapy) or 90834 (45 min)?
How long will it take to get my reimbursement?
Do I need a referral from a primary care physician?
Do my benefits cover telehealth services (online counseling)?
-
There are no other costs to the sessions themselves. If you require a written report, signed affidavit, or sworn testimony, there are additional charges for those services. Please contact me to inquire about those options.
No Surprises Act Notice
The Federal No Surprises Act went into effect on January 1, 2022 to protect patients from surprise medical bills. As a result, all licensed health providers who offer out of network services are required to post a notice of “your rights and protections against surprise medical bills” on our websites or in our physical offices.
You may know that many people have been harmed by surprise medical bills, often incurred during emergency or surgical care where there may be out of network providers involved in a patient’s care without their knowledge. It is unlikely this could occur when receiving services from me as there should be no situation in which you would “inadvertently” receive care from from me, OR receive care with no choice.
The nature of mental health services are different and I do not engage in surprise or balance billing. Further, in accordance with the Act, I will provide a Good Faith Estimate of the costs of services prior to a first session and at your request, anytime in the course of treatment. Rest assured, you can always ask me about any costs about which you may be unsure, and you will be provided clear, accurate information.
-
If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide at least 48 hours notice. I will do my best to accommodate reschedule requests but cannot provide any guarantees. If I am unable to reschedule or the notice period is less than 48 hours, you are responsible for the full session fee.
-
My practice is self-pay/private-pay practice: I do not bill health insurance and my services are considered as out-of-network.
This means that you are responsible for paying for the costs of services at the time of the session.
If you have out-of-network benefits, you may be reimbursed a portion of my fees by submitting a “superbill” (a detailed receipt that contains required insurance information) which I am happy to provide you. Please be aware your insurance provider may choose to cover all, some or none of these services. Therefore, before your first session, I suggest you contact your insurance company to verify your out-of-network coverage of outpatient mental health services.

Therapy is a unique relationship in our lives and it’s very important to make sure that you are comfortable with both the process and the provider. I strongly encourage anyone seeking therapy to speak to multiple providers and exercise their right to choose the best fit. If you have specific questions about therapy, please contact me for a complimentary 15 minute phone conversation to evaluate your needs and whether I am able to provide the services most appropriate for you.
Additionally, you can also schedule General Consultation sessions to complete 1-3 sessions to better understand my style and approach before proceeding further.
-
The first session, which is a General Consultation session, is generally scheduled for 60 minutes and is a guided discussion that covers a range of topics to help me fully understand the problems that are bringing you to therapy, the important events in your life, your relationships, your lifestyle, and any other factors that play a role in your life. This initial evaluation also serves as the foundation of the treatment plan we will build together and review periodically as we work together. Depending on your specific situation, occasionally the initial evaluation requires more than one session.
-
Generally, Individual and Couples Therapy sessions meet weekly and are 45-50 minutes, scheduled to start on the hour. Discussion is guided by the topics that are most relevant for you (or your partner) that week.
If you are interested in meeting more than once a week, please contact me to inquire about options.
-
If you are interested in joining Group Therapy, please note that you must complete at least one General Consultation session first so that I may understand what your concerns are and ensure that you are placed in the group that will be the best fit for you.
Groups run on a weekly basis and each session lasts for 60 minutes. I maintain waiting lists for individuals interested in joining a particular group and will start groups once at least 5 group members are identified. Depending on how long a group has been running, there are options to join an existing group rather than waiting for a new one to start.

Yes, of course! Therapy is meant to be a tool to help you strengthen your ability to cope with the stressors and traumas you currently carry and learn the tools to successfully manage future stressors. So the fundamental goal of therapy is to help you get to a point where you no longer need to come see me.
The decision around when to end therapy is a collaborative one based on where we are in addressing your needs and concerns and the progress that has been made at any given point. As we work together, I encourage you to keep this in mind and engage in regular conversation on this topic.
While my ultimate goal is to help you achieve enough change that you are able to manager your life’s demands on your own, you will be the final judge of when this is realized.
