General Consultation
A general consultation generally requires anywhere from 1 to 3 sessions and is a great way to get a professional overview of your mental health, understand and prioritize areas of concern, and get recommendations tailored to your needs and lifestyle. This can be particularly useful for those who need a psychological evaluation for work or school accommodations, court proceedings, or other official paperwork.
Please note that our first session, regardless of the kind of service you’re engaging in, will be a General Consultation session.
Individual Therapy
There’s a great deal of misinformation in the world about individual therapy so it’s important to know that, first and foremost, starting therapy is an act of self-love and a commitment to your own growth and healing.
I firmly believe that therapy is like a dance between two partners - both of us have to work hard to make this a success. I bring my training and experience to apply to your concerns, and I ask that you bring honesty, an open mind, and expertise in your own life to share in the room.
I utilize an integrative approach that draws on many schools of thought, including Interpersonal Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Attachment Theory, Insight-Based Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. My work is primarily rooted in a trauma-informed approach that prioritizes collaboration, empowerment, and transparency in the therapy dyad. At the same time, therapy is a relationship. And like all of my personal relationships, I bring authenticity, humor, sensitivity, and practical realism to my clients too.
Couples Therapy
Our romantic relationships are arguably the most important relationships of our adult lives. But this doesn’t mean they’re easy. Both partners bring a lifetime of experiences, lessons learned, and, sometimes, traumas to the dynamic and this can create complications and distress.
Couples therapy is a safe space to work through issues that come up in the relationship with the guidance of a neutral third party. Whether you’re interesting in breaking down certain dynamics and understanding the roles each partner has taken in the relationship and in the family, or if you’re interested in building specific skills to improve communication and manage differences, couples therapy can be a powerful way to build a stronger foundation and heal rifts.
I work with couples at all stages in their relationship and I have experience working with LGBTQIA+ couples.
Group Therapy
Group therapy is a powerful and underrated tool to work through issues in a safe community that shares your goals and concerns. It’s a space to understand in the moment how we interact with others, how we experience and are influenced by others, and how we influence and show up to them.
By meeting in small groups of 5-12 individuals that have been specifically matched based on each individual’s needs and goals, group therapy provides an opportunity to work through dynamics in real-time, all under the guidance of a psychologist.
Sessions are generally scheduled in evening hours and last for 1 hour. To join a group, all perspective members must complete an individual General Consultation session first. This helps ensure that everyone is placed in the best group for them. Group topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
Coping with Stress and Distress
Building Stronger Relationships
Parenting Skills and Tips
Building Emotional Intelligence and Learning How to Apply It
Trauma Processing
Skills Groups
